San Antonio: Bexar felony records and city-boundary checks
Bexar County is the main starting point for San Antonio felony records. Its District Clerk expressly identifies itself as custodian of criminal felony court records and provides a records page for obtaining documents. Start with that page when the judgment names a Bexar County district court. A San Antonio municipal citation, city police report and county felony judgment are different records, even when they grew out of the same incident.
The San Antonio GIS site supplies interactive maps for geographic questions. Use city mapping only to clarify a location; do not substitute a neighborhood or postal address for the court identified in the judgment. Cases from the surrounding area can be filed outside Bexar County. If the papers name another county, use that county’s court and clerk through the Texas Judicial Directory rather than asking Bexar to search an unrelated jurisdiction.
When assembling the Bexar file, list the conviction documents separately from police materials or later appellate decisions. Ask the clerk which copies are available and whether a requested item must come from another custodian. This reduces confusion when comparing attorneys with non-attorney support services: a provider should explain what it will do with the actual felony record, and should not imply that access to public maps or a docket is a completed case review.
