Local court records and practical starting points in Orlando

Orlando is in Orange County, within the Ninth Judicial Circuit. The circuit also serves Osceola County, but an Orlando conviction and a Kissimmee conviction do not share one county clerk file. Tourism-area descriptions can obscure the county where an incident was prosecuted. An Orange County case number and the court heading should guide the first records request, even if the arrest occurred during a visit and the family now lives outside Florida.

The Orange County Clerk's criminal-division contact page links online court records and provides a route for questions about criminal files. Use that division for a filed judgment, plea document or sentencing record. If a name search produces several cases, compare the case numbers with the actual judgment before downloading documents. Do not send a request to Osceola solely because a provider describes its service area as Orlando or Central Florida.

For an Orlando matter involving records held by police, a hotel or another business, distinguish the filed court exhibits from materials that never became part of the court file. The clerk cannot make a private witness supply new evidence. Organize the court docket separately from the proposed new material and record where each item came from. A provider can then discuss the type of help needed without assuming that an online Orange docket includes every investigative document or that a shared judicial circuit gives access to Osceola records.

Which county court records should I use for a Orlando conviction?

Use Orange County when that is the county shown on the judgment. The Ninth Judicial Circuit label alone is not a substitute for the county and full case number.
