Local court records and practical starting points in Jacksonville

Jacksonville state criminal convictions generally begin with the Duval County Clerk and the Fourth Judicial Circuit. Clay and Nassau are also in that circuit, but their case records belong to separate county clerks. A Jacksonville-area address therefore does not resolve the trial county. This page concerns Jacksonville, Florida; it should not be confused with Jacksonville in Onslow County, North Carolina, which uses a different state court system and different relief terminology.

Duval's court-records page explains access through CORE. Public access and access available to a party or attorney can differ, and some documents cannot be viewed through basic access. If the docket lists an order but its image is missing, use the clerk's records guidance to ask about that order. A blank image or restricted document is not proof that the case was dismissed or that the filing never occurred.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office may hold arrest or investigative records while the Duval Clerk holds documents officially filed in the prosecution. Keep the two sets linked by the arrest date and court case number, rather than assuming the agency incident number is the court number. For a conviction involving multiple counts, preserve the full judgment and all sentencing pages. A provider's review should identify whether it concerns a Duval state conviction or a separate federal prosecution before selecting forms or describing the available support.

Which county court records should I use for a Jacksonville conviction?

Use Duval County when that is the county shown on the judgment. The Fourth Judicial Circuit label alone is not a substitute for the county and full case number.
